Preparation/experience for a firefighting job?

I am 16 and extremely patient about being a firefighter, i know that the hiring is competitive so i was wondering if it would be helpful for me to join the army. I would already like to join but dont know what i want to do for my mos, would being an army firefighter or medic help? is so, which one?
