Can i be a pilot or am i DQ'd?
my father as a firefighter from 1995 to 2005 ....he decided to take courses in aviation and he is now a pilot for the USMC. i believe he flies a Boeing V-22 Osprey. He has talked to me if joining the military interested me or becoming a firefighter. I would love to keep his legacy going but i read in some Marine corps pilot requirements that you need to have 20/400 vision correctable to 20/20 to be a pilot ..i am nearly blind in my right eye but still have depth perception because i am not completely blind. the doctor told em it was my thin optical nerve and is not really correctable. could i still be a firefighter? because i read firefighter medical requierments and it said that blindness in one eye was not an automatic DQ. could someone with this proper knowledge let me know if i am disqualified for being a firegfighter? i live in california by the way.
